Nate Patterson has a one-word answer about how he survived the isolation of the pandemic, Louis. The dog was a really nice sanity thing and honestly, he still is. Claire is so attached to Remy she changed jobs. The question about coming back to the office was brought up at my current job and that's when I started searching for a new job where I could bring my dog with me. Recent studies show one in three millennials and almost half of Gen Z would do the same. Claire's new employer Bark makes toys and treats for our four-legged co-workers, like Stacy Grissom's dog Pim a pro at office culture. I've been bringing Pim since the day I got her, so she's been like OG, OG office dog for a long time. How is she as an office mate? She’s a pretty good office mate. Occasionally she'll bark at the salad delivery guy. Overall, I would say she's one of the better co-workers that I have. I bet she never returns an email. No, no! Here opposites attract Dozer the Mastiff and Egg the Pomeranian work together to keep humans in line. Having dogs in the office does it lower the temperature on a stressful day?I think it does it feels very therapeutic, and it feels very relaxing to just kind of claim that time with your dog go on walks or play downstairs. Companies are no longer barking up the wrong tree. 10 percent of Americans say their workplace is making changes to allow dogs. Alex Terry manages the pet needs at Bart.

Scenario 1: Office Dog Adoption

You're Nate Patterson, a millennial who adopted a dog, Louis, during the pandemic. Louis has been your support during isolation. Now back in the office, you're advocating for a pet-friendly policy so Louis can join you at work. You're sharing with your boss and colleagues how Louis's presence has boosted your mental health and productivity.

Scenario 2: Dog-Friendly Job Search

You're Claire, a Gen Z worker at Bark, a dog toy and treat company. You switched jobs to bring your dog, Remy, to work. You're sharing your positive experience and Remy's impact as the "OG office dog" with your employer and colleagues, and discussing studies about millennials and Gen Z employees seeking dog-friendly workplaces.

Scenario 3: Office Dogs Boost Morale

You're Alex Terry, manager of pet needs at Bart, a company with a dog-friendly office policy. You're discussing the benefits of dogs at work, like improved morale and reduced stress, and showing the pet supply stations and treat dispensers Bart offers to support this inclusive work culture.

Part 8: Critical Thinking - Animals at work/school

Objective: To reach a consensus on whether pets should be allowed at work/school

Your company/school has decided has asked you to be part of a committee that will decide if pets are allowed to be brought to company/school.

Split into two groups, one group supports the idea and the other is against.

Each team must create a presentation and put forward their reasons as to why they are for or against the idea (In groups think about both the pros and cons).

Lastly, as a class reach a consensus on the best policy for the company/school to implement.

Part 1: Comprehension

This is a news report which looks at bringing pets to the office. During COVID lockdowns many people had to work from home, and they could look after and work with their pets, but now that they are back working in their offices some businesses let them bring their pets to work. Some people even changed their job to a job that would allow them to bring their pets, for example, Claire changed her job after the pandemic, and example how she brought her dog, Remy, to work. The report interviews a number of employees at the company Bark and they discuss the various advantages and disadvantages of bringing a pet to work. They point out that it means the dog is less lonely and also it helps keep the dog and its owners relaxed. One key statistic from the report is that 10 percent of Americans say their workplace is making changes to allow dogs.

a) "Attached" Answer: I think this means to feel close or like something a lot. In the video, the speaker states that she is attached to her dog and doesn’t want to leave it at home, so much so that she changed her job. This means she feels very close to her dog.

b) "OG" Answer: I think this means original gangster and it is slang for someone who is authentic or exceptional because in the video the speaker talks about how well her dog handles being in the office, and she thinks he is a natural at office work.

c) "Therapeutic" Answer: I think this means to have a good effect on the body or mind because in the video the speaker talks about how good it feels to have his pet with him, and states that he feels very relaxed when his dog is beside him.  

d) "Barking up the wrong tree" Answer: I think it means perusing the wrong approach to something because in the video the reporter talks about how a new approach to accepting pets in the workplace seems to be better and that employers are not starting to realize it.
